Merely by rotating its outer ring, you dial in the degree of neutral density you want. Another advantage of this filter is not having to suffer the expense of buying numerous ND filters, carrying them around and having to stop, change filters and hope you get the shot. With its capability of capturing ND factors of 2.5 to ND1000, you'll be able to take multiple shots of the same subject without changing your aperture. For example, a shot normally taken at 1/60 sec can be captured from 1/20 to 16 seconds without changing your aperture.
